Course Outline Tenses and Prepositions, Formal Casualand Telephonic Conversation, Listening and Comprehension Skills.
 



Advanced Level

ETHICS OF EDUCATION

Seeks to provide a broad introductory perspective to the main ideas, theories, and debates that frame philosophy of education. The reading for the course will be a mix of classic texts and commentaries that provide insights into the key concepts and foundational ideas, and contemporary readings that provide an opportunity to review, reflect upon and critically engage with these concept and ideas.

PEDAGOGY THROUGH LIBERAL ARTS

This module deals with the evolution of liberalarts in Education and the integration of theoretical knowledge with hands-on application practice in pedagogy. Using the element of 'play' in a classroom situation for creative and aesthetic nurturing.

EVERYDAY, APPLIED SOCIOLOGY

In this course, instead of the traditional text book style pedagogy, we pick up everyday subjects from real life-say-from each other's experience, newspaper, tv or films or from that what is going on, and discuss, debate and document them from sociological point of view. This is our everyday sociology. Then comes the Applied part where we rethink our discourse and deliberate on what our intervention could be if we were to intervene or mediate these issues in practice. Together they make Everyday, Applied Sociology.

BEHAVIOURAL DISORDERS IN THE CLASSROOM

Understand and develop empathy towards the child/adolescent in the dealing (both academically & emotionally) of the disorders in classroom situations. Develop genuine engagement among faculty members with the developing student in her/his full capacity (both academically & in terms of personality) A comprehensive understanding of emerging difficulties /complexities with age and accordingly modifying faculty behaviour in handling them in classroom situations.

ARTS & SENSATIONS

It is sometimes difficult to understand what an artist wants to express through his/her work. In reality, the artist does not always try to communicate any sense. The following will be dealt with as an aesthetic and personalexperience; then an analysis of the processthat these experiences covered. This involves two questions- whatare the effects produced by the artistic set-up, and how is the artistic set-up built to produce this effect.

ELEMENTS OF NATURAL ARCHITECTURE

Deals with architecture, one of the more influential professions, whose primary concerns and responsibilities are to shape the environment in which we conduct our daily lives thereby reflecting and shaping society. The approach is holistic and the applied thrust is one of convergence.

CONTEMPORARY MODERN DANCE

A solid grounding in the elementary forms of Modern Contemporary Dance. As in Classical Ballet and Jazz here also alignment, rhythmn, awareness will be the key words. Each participant will take away a small choreography from the course.

CLASSICAL BALLET, JAZZ

Movement and understanding body are paramount. Coupled with that is technique and the showcasing of difference between the dance forms. Technique, alignment, rhythm, awareness will be the key words. Each participant will take away a small choreography from the course.

PORTRAIT PAINTING

How to draw portraits and self portraits from life by using basic drawing techniques and media. The module will deal with proportions, contours the use of light and dark to express emotions and characteristics.

ASTRONOMY FOR BEGINNERS

INTRODUCTORY COURSES FOR HIGHER LEARNING

Undergraduate students find a fairly large gap in nature and content of a subject between High School and University level. MACE felt the need to introduce a series of courses that would attempt to address this 'gap'. These academic courses are designed to introduce specific subjects to those who wish to study them formally or informally.

Structured in 12/15/18 hour modules and offered in collaboration with the University of Calcutta,the Introductory Courses in:

Bengali Literature,Journalism (12 hours)
Geography, Economics, History, Mathematics, Psychology & Business Studies (15 hours)
English Literature (18 hours)
